The traditional Sri Lankan wedding is performed on a decorated canopied dais (Poruwa). The bride and bridegroom are dressed in ceremonial Sri Lankan costumes. Jayamangala stanzas of blessings are sung by young girls. Dancers to the beating of drums make the ceremony colourful.

The required documents to be married in Sri Lanka are given below and each person must provide a duplicate copy of each of the following. These copies should be forwarded to the hotel two weeks prior to the date of marriage.

01. Birth certificate
02. Passports – copies are only required of the information pages, do not include
the pages containing immigration and visa stamps
03. A letter stating your full name, postal address and occupation
04. A letter stating the full names, addresses and occupations of your parents
05. An affidavit confirming your status

The following documents are required only if they apply to you.

01. If divorced – decree absolute(s)
02. Legal proof of any name changes by Deed Poll
03. If widowed a) Death certificate(s) of former spouse    b) Previous marriage
       certificate(s)
04. If adopted – legal forms
05. If any document provided is not in English, then a legally recognized
       translator must provide a translation

You must travel to Sri Lanka with all the original documentation for your wedding at the hotel 5 days prior to the wedding.
